HR Consulting Case Study – Sanofi-Aventis

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

The Brief

True North was given the task of creating a uniform framework to evaluate and measure the strengths of the existing workforce within Sanofi-aventis, the world’s third largest pharmaceutical company. We were also tasked with bringing consistency to the ways in which this international company assesses performance, pay and to make key talent decisions.

The Challenge

As one of the true global giants of its industry, Sanofi-aventis operates in a wide variety of disciplines and with a diverse capability across R&D and has pioneered a number of blockbuster drugs. The company has seen a great deal of change since 2005 as it has adapted to the globalisation of some of its key activities. This period of dynamic change prompted the UK Executive team to order a strategic review of its human capital resource with True North as its chosen partner.

The Solution

After a thorough evaluation and planning process, True North undertook an extensive programme to create competency frameworks and behavioural talent maps for each of the 250 different roles within the organisation. Our objective was to deliver a methodology that would allow the organisation to identify talent quickly and also to develop a framework within which Sanofi-aventis could offer its employees outstanding reward and exceptional opportunity to develop.

The programme developed by True North consultants was approved and implemented immediately across wide areas of the business and the results and track record since implementation have been excellent.
