True North was engaged by the UK’s biggest retail banking group Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) to develop an innovative sourcing and attraction strategy to support recruitment efforts for their digital sector, a key area of expansion in the short and long- term future.
Lloyds Banking Group was already the market leader in the digital sector, but competition is intense and there is a constant need to innovate and invest in both the product range and the technology. Demand for the best digital people is high and with emerging technologies, especially around things like mobile where there are limited skills and capabilities in the market place, it was crucial for LBG to create an innovative resourcing approach to attract the strongest candidates.
True North first identified that LBG’s priority from a resourcing perspective was to gain full visibility and control of their supply chain of talent. This was executed through extensive diagnostic research and interviews with key stakeholders to gain their feedback. As LBG were reliant on third party suppliers for the majority of its recruitment to date, True North engaged and benchmarked these companies and completed a full audit of candidate attraction channels, including evaluating the microsite/careers portals and feedback from the current referral scheme.
In the second phase of the project, True North undertook a complete mapping exercise to map the digital market in terms of the availability in the wider talent pool. The results of the diagnostic and mapping work provided LBG with a detailed sourcing plan enabling effective resourcing across the digital group, such as improved speed to hire and more reliable decision-making. LBG were left with a robust and successful PSL and importantly a resourcing strategy that is ‘future proofed’ for the continued expansion of the business.
