Chief Executive – POWWOWNOW
True North Executive Search was approached by the founders of the top Tech 100 business POWWOWNOW to partner them in the search for the newly appointed role of Chief Executive. After an initial discovery meeting, True North began the process of structuring an appropriate job description that encapsulated all of the wants of the owners, as well as catering for the needs of this fast-growth business.
Due to the nature of POWOWNOW’s business model, we needed to secure the services of a senior-level executive who had a combination of both PLC and start-up experience. This desired combination quickly became apparent when we offered the client the opportunity to interview three candidates who all offered a different background in terms of the size and scale of the operations they had successfully run. Post interviews, the founders were in agreement as to the background of the individual that they now required and signed off on the brief.
As part of the initial phase, True North requested time in front of a selection of the senior and middle management team to understand their wants from an incoming Chief Executive. Once complete, we brought together all of our findings and built both a role and person profile that all the relevant stakeholders were happy with.
True North took the brief to market using their own network, social media, candidate referrals and direct advertising, resulting in a long list of over 100 candidates. Through a series of face-to-face interviews, a shortlist of six candidates was identified as appropriate for presentation to the client. The list was subsequently whittled down to three who presented their business case to the senior management team.
Throughout the process, True North supported the founders in their decision-making process and endeavoured to offer value at every turn, resulting in a critical hire into the POWWOWNOW business. POWWOWNOW is enjoying significant success currently and remains one of the UK’s fastest growing technology businesses.
